On Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. I did an author talk/book signing for my novel THE ASCENDANCY at the Barnes & Noble in Ellicott City, Maryland. One of the attendees was Gina Brillante, the daughter of my close childhood-teen friend from College Park, Frannie Brillante. His daughter Gina is a writer. She has been writing poems, short stories, essays and novels since she was eight years old. Below is the poem which she wrote during my author talk at the Barnes & Noble booksigning event. Gina gave me permission to share it with you. Please take a look. You will not be sorry. Machu Picchu

Just a heads up. This morning, I did a 52 minute radio interview with Adam Avery on Frederick’s WFMD. It was a great interview. It is syndicated through the Clear Channel Network.
I found Adam Avery to be the epitome of a good interviewer and a great host. Thank you, Adam! He asked me questions about my novel THE ASCENDANCY, the trilogy, the screenplays that I have written and currently writing, how I got started in writing, the film on elder abuse that I produced & directed, my family, and more. It was an incredible experience. I am so grateful for the opportunity. If you want to hear the interview, please go to WFMD to Adam Avery’s “Seniors Talk Radio.” Click on this link. The show will air Sunday, November 15 at 8 p.m.
Hi All! I do a series of book signings in Washington D.C.-Maryland-Virginia for my novel THE ASCENDANCY between November 10 – 21. I will be doing signings at Barnes & Nobles, two high schools, and possibly one university, that is still in the works. There will also be a 30 – 60 minute syndicated radio interview, and some newspaper coverage. This is the poster for one of the events. If you know people in the Rockville, Gaithersburg, Derwood, Montgomery County area of Maryland or the Ellicott City, Baltimore area, please let them know. THE ASCENDANCY deals with the whole 2012 concerns that people are concerned about. I spent ten years of travel and research to write the book which deals with 2012, and the volatile times in which we live.
I will be giving author talk/book signing events at four locations in November. November 13, Friday: meet and talk with AP Literature, Honors, Journalism students at Paint Branch High School, Montgomery County, Silver Spring, Md. . Please come to one of the events! You’ll find it fascinating. -John
Three weeks ago, I was most fortunate to meet Ron Cassie, reporter of The Frederick News Post, and the newspaper’s feature editor Nancy Luse. After some brief conversations, they decided to do a feature article about my education, writing, travel experiences and goals. The article was published in the “Horizon Section” of The Frederick News Post’s Sunday edition, July 5, 2009. I have scanned it and assembled it as a low resolution JPG document. The article was good publicity and journalist Ron Cassie took a different approach to The Ascendancy. The article is about from journey from 18 years old to where I am today and where I want to go. To Ron & Nancy, I am most grateful. Thank You!

About the novel THE ASCENDANCY, editor Jerry Gross, former VP and Executive Editor at Warner Books of Time–Warner-AOL writes: “The Ascendancy is an extraordinary, completely original work of fantasy unlike any other I have ever read in theme and content. John Weiskopf’s “voice” rings out loud and clear in this modern retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk for our post 9/11 Age. It will be a book talked about and read for generations to come. And deservedly so. Last but not least, it is an enchanting read.”
Congratulations to Tom Ruck, author, friend & incredible person, whose book Sacred Ground, A Tribute to America’
Is getting the attention it so deserves. One Hundred Percent 100% of Tom’s royalties are being sent directly from his publisher, and in Tom’s own words, “Regnery, (whom I am so proud to be associated with) to the Freedom Alliance Foundation, I could not be more proud… In fact, it is my understanding that they were able to award 200+ scholarships to children of our fallen heroes this past year – YEA!!!”
Tom goes on to say: “As many of you are aware, 2008 wasn’t the best year of my life; Sheryl passed in January, I changed jobs in June and suffered a heat attack that required 3 stents on Christmas Eve. But I am back in the saddle, 40 lbs lighter and ready to move onward and upward!
This week I am lucky to be involved with media around the country with a special emphasis in my hometown, St. Louis thanks to efforts put forth on my behalf by Allison and Leslie at AHC Consulting. Los Angeles – Master of Ceremonies at Riverside National Cemetery, Memorial Day 11:00 – ??
OK, here is what I am asking – PLEASE!!
If you are in the St. Louis or Riverside area, please come to one of the book signings or the Memorial Day event. And if you live outside that area or can not attend one of these events, BUY a book off Amazon, Borders or Barnes & Noble and send it to the local high school or middle school with a note attached expressing that you think this would make an excellent classroom topic and maybe even an essay project. And WOW, if they wanted to go above and beyond to invite a veteran from their local American Legion or Veteran of Foreign War posts to come to class and discuss his or her experiences.”
If you do not have this book, you need to purchase one. It is incredible! Judy and I bought one. It is gorgeous, and means so much.
Congratulations to Tom! You’re an inspiration to so many people.
–John M. Weiskopf
